With the heavy effects of COVID and an upcoming Ski Season, the stakes couldn’t be higher for Resorts and Ski Areas to communicate with their guests as effectively as possible. Especially important is a visual overview of what folks can expect to experience when they arrive at your mountain. Of course, most will check your site for an idea of what new rules have been implemented, new protocols, parking, reservations, etc. Right there is the perfect area of your site to provide a visual Base Area / s overview to share what your traffic flows look like, what Outdoor Offerings & Facilities you’re making available; are there dining platforms or rentable Cabins around your Base Area?

You can visually answer all of these questions via a North Pole Designed COVID Base Map. I sat down with a beer a sketchbook and came up with a really cost-effective, but accurate format for designing these maps. Here’s the plan:

• You, the Resort / Ski Area provide a Google screenshot your Base or Base Areas, along with any notes you feel would best inform & educate your guest on what they should know before pulling in. Remember, visually offering this info is something they have in their hands at any moment throughout their stay.
• Send it to NPD with any notes.
• I’ll design a custom Base Map with, essentially basic building shapes, but with accurate roads, Base Area layout with lifts, tree areas, etc. I’ll also create a Legend that corresponds with your offerings; so if you have Food Trucks, mobile Food Delivery services, Cabins / Huts / Cabanas, etc.; we’ll make this graphic asset as informative and helpful as possible.
• Your COVID Base Map / s will be delivered in a print-ready / web-optimized file.

I’ve specifically priced these Map Assets to correspond with “The Times”. Layoffs, Furloughs & Budget Cuts, OH MY! It effects everything up & down the proverbial chain; including key Guest Communication materials that really provide a LOT of easy-to-digest info, like a Base Area Map! And therefore, budgets are tight. I get it 100%. I’ve based the cost of the COVID Base Maps on the general size of your Base Area or Areas and a sliding scale of Annual Skier Visits.

Small – 100,000 Skier Visits

Medium – 100,000-300,000 Skier Visits

Large – 300,000 +
